by 11 May 27, 2015Can we really celebrate summer without celebrating watermelon? I'm willing to bet good money that the majority of you broke out the watermelon this past weekend for Memorial Day. When the pools open and the water gets warm, that means it's watermelon time. I love buying watermelon, but unfortunately I usually end up wasting a ton of it. I'm not one for wasting food, so I wanted a recipe that could help me make the most of of my watermelon scraps. That's where watermelon juice comes into the picture.
First, prepare your watermelon. If your watermelon is already cubed, you're set; if not, go ahead and take the watermelon of off the rinds. This works BEST with seedless. If all you have is one with seeds, just remove them before juicing.Next, take the watermelon and place in blender. Blend until mixed. I did a single serve for my juice, but if you want to make mass quantities, follow this simple rule: for every cup of watermelon, include a tsp.of salt and a basil leaf.
