Toast Havarti Cheese Avocado Minced Ginger Tomato Lemon Juice Red Pepper Flakes Sea Salt
This avocado toast is a direct twist on the original that you may find in various restaurants or blogs. Typical avocado toast include a smashed avocado, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. I've decided to add in the ginger because it compliments the lemon nicely and is actually paired with lemon frequently for their super detoxing power. I added the tomato and Havarti because they are two of my favorites to put with avocado.
Before we begin the recipe, I wanted to show you how I tend to cut up my avocados. I eat A LOT of avocado. Typically I'll eat it for lunch, and I'll just mash up the avocado in the skin and top it with salt and pepper. Even if you don't want to do that, I find that this makes it a little easier to mash. Essentially - you're turning your avocado into chunks. Cut vertically and horizontally. If you're making the toast, scoop this out into the bowl. If not, you can smash it down with a fork and mash it within itself.
Choose any toast and cheese you want! I love making Havarti avocado grilled cheeses, so I knew I had to choose that awesome, drool-worthy, perfectly melty, cheese. I went with sourdough for the bread because I really like it with breakfast foods. Anything you like will work. Avocado tends to pair easily with most cheeses.
