Two things I can't believe I did in this post: 1) avoided using a cheesy "Fifty Shades" pun in the title, and 2) skipped my go-to black eyeliner.
Yes, I am in shock. BUT as we prepare for Spring to (eventually) appear in all her warmth and luvvliness, I thought it might be a good opportunity to push aside the jet-black liner for a softer, more subtle springtime eye style: gray eyeliner.

After all these years, the smoked-out smudgy shadow is still my favorite sexy date night look. However, March has me more than ready to leave behind the dark, dramatic shades of winter for something a little bit softer and more subtle. This is where Revlon's Kajal
Matte Eye Pencil in Charcoal comes in-- it's the perfect creamy shade of gray.

Pair this liner with a soft gray smokey shadow and you're ready to rock a totally Spring-appropriate (but still totally sexy and daring) eye style.
To begin, cover your whole lid with a very light shadow, then line with your gray eye pencil.
To add some drama, use a shimmer gray shadow in the outer corners of your crease.
I used NYX
Roll-On shimmer shadow in Onyx.

Use a fluffy shadow brush to blend the gray shadow across your crease and down toward the outer corner of your lash line.

The final product serves up real attitude without the drama of a harsh black liquid liner. Gray liner is a wonderful soft alternative to your normal black eye liner game.

Don't forget to complete the look with a pink or peachy lipstick! Come on, Spring!
