Makeup Monday: The Perfect Pink
With Spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to play around with a softer color palette for your makeup. Don’t get me wrong: by now you all know I love smudged-out smoky eyes and a dramatic red lip. That being said, you should also know by now that we here at Hello Luvvy have a soft spot for all things pink; this affinity has led me to seek out the perfect pink lipstick. Below you can get a look at the top five shades that made the cut, as well as links to where you can buy them for yourself. In regards to wearing pink lipstick: it’s tricky. Consider first the popularity of red lipstick; sure, you have your all-time favorite red lippie – the one that looks just brilliant with your skin tone – but then you probably have two or three other “reject reds” that, while they weren’t the holy grail of red lipsticks, you still think they look rather nice on you and will do in a pinch. Pinks are not so flexible. Finding your perfect pink depends largely on your skin tone, and choosing the wrong one can result in less-than-desirable effects: choosing a pink that’s too warm for your skin tone (like a soft coral shade) can make your teeth look dingy and your skin appear washed out. On the other side of the spectrum, choosing a pink that’s too cool (or blue-tinted) for your skin can make your skin look dirty, orange or yellowish. I don’t know why wearing pink lipstick is such a nuanced endeavor, but I know that once you find that perfect one, the results are worth it. The pretty pinks below are all relatively neutral, which means they rock on most skin tones. 1. Revlon Colorburst - Pink Truffle 2. Sonia Kashuk - Parisian Pink 3. NYX Round Case Lipstick – Margarita 4. Lipstick Queen – Bright Rose 5. Lovemarc Lip Gel by Marc Jacobs – Strange Magic I'd love to hear your suggestions for the perfect pink!
