Out of all of the awesome fall makeup trends, I am most looking forward to rocking ORANGE. While it might seem a bit bold for an autumn look, (after all, we’re just now letting go of the harsh neons of the summer beauty world), I’m on a quest to create a color-blocked look using earthy tones and warm oranges.
Thankfully, I happened upon Smash Cosmetics on Etsy.
You all know I’m a sucker for handmade, vegan-friendly cosmetics and this shop is by far one of my favorites. To begin my orange-tinted vision, I ordered the following products:
November Nights: Shimmery Orange Mineral Eyeshadow
Caramelized Peach: Peach with Copper Shimmer Mineral Eyeshadow
Blood Orange: Dark Red-Orange Lipstick
Now I’m not going for an Oompa Loompa look, nor do I want my orange dream to come out looking more like a Halloween nightmare. I want the November Nights eyeshadow to be the proverbial “pop of color,” and here’s how I did it without looking scary.
Start, as always, by priming the eye. This is especially important when using bolder colors, as it enriches the pigments AND makes the shadow stay in place.
From there, I used a smudge brush (which has lots of short, thick bristles to hold lots of product) to apply the November Nights onto my upper eyelid. I did not use any of the orange shadow in or above my crease.
Afterward, I used a large shadow brush to apply the Caramelized Peach above my lid and up into the brow bone area. This creates almost a gradient look that, in the end, is totally wearable for daytime.
I chose brown eyeliner in place of black because, again, we’re not trying to get too Halloween-y in August.
To finish off this fall foliage-inspired face, I used a very subtle blush and just a hint of the Blood Orange lipstick. To see how I pulled off the subtle orange lip, check out the video below.
