by 2 July 01, 2013Here at helloluvvy.com, we believe that it’s important to look good, feel good, and – most importantly – DO GOOD. That’s why I've devoted this week’s Makeup Monday post to cosmetic companies and brands that give back. Read through the list below to find brands that contribute serious percentages of their profits to helping extremely worthy causes. 1) LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics (lushusa.com): LUSH is well-known for their delicious soaps, scrubs, cosmetics, and perfumes. Beyond creating highly effective bath and beauty products, the company is also dedicated to giving back to the world around it. They say it best on their website: “Charitable giving is at the heart of our business, and we believe it's our responsibility to advocate for the environment, animals and people in need.” How they help: Charity Pots: This incredible body lotion is made from fair-trade organic cocoa butter, almond oil, and ylang ylang oil. The best part? LUSH donates 100% of the profit sales of these lotion pots to grassroots charity organizations all over the world. Using these donations, LUSH has assisted in building schools in Guatemala and a health clinic in the Dominican Republic. Check out the other charities they support here. (~$6 - $23) here. (~$7) josiemarancosmetics.com): Josie Maran, former model and actress, launched this beauty line as an attempt to offer clean, eco-friendly products and change the world while doing it. Maran’s line attracts the customer who is as concerned about the social and environmental world around her as she is her own makeup and skin care. How she helps: GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara (in Pitch Black): There’s nothing better than a really good black mascara – unless you’re also contributing toward women’s cancer research and care! When you buy the GOGO mascara, not only does Josie Maran Cosmetics donate a tube to a cancer patient/survivor, but they will also donate a portion of your payment to the City of Hope research fund. (~$22) How they help: All of their sales go toward a philanthropic cause, so here are some of our favorites! These lip glosses are shiny and sophisticated; and of course they’re made with only earth-friendly, body-friendly ingredients. UNIFEM Lip Gloss: Proceeds support the United Nation's Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), which funds programs around the world to end violence against women. V-Day Lip Gloss: Proceeds support the V-Day Campaign to end violence against women. Eternal Equity Lip Gloss: Proceeds support programs like Micro-Credit Enterprises, which will help women in poverty pursue a sustainable trade. (~$13-$16) And what to do with all your old makeup? We've got a cause for that, too! The Beauty Bus Foundation (beautybus.org): The Beauty Bus foundation provides makeovers, pampering, grooming services, and beauty products to any men, women, or children who are terminally or chronically ill. With tons of corporate sponsors, the Beauty Bus is able to provide kindness and confidence to those who otherwise would never experience it. How they help: The Beauty Bus offers in-home beauty and grooming services, pop-up salon, services, and the “Bag of Beauty” program, which provides patients and caregivers with carefully selected cosmetics and skin care products. This particular philanthropy is one that showcases the effective brilliance of allowing everyone to be their best selves. Read more about it here! This week, consider doing something kind and compassionate for your fellow ladies. You can contribute to the confidence and well-being of the world around you and look fabulous doing it.
And don’t forget to give us feedback, luvvies! Tell us how you give back by hitting us up on twitter, instagram, or through our email, email@example.com.
