If you need a cute last-minute Halloween costume, this owl costume DIY is perfect for you! A few weeks ago I happened to be invited to a costume party where we could dress up as characters from Twin Peaks, I chose to go as an owl (the owls are not what they seem!). I searched the internet for an easy owl makeup guide, and couldn't find anything, SO I made my own. This is cheap and easy. You're gonna look so good! No one will know it was last minute, promise ;).
All you need for this is bronzer, white costume makeup, a brown eyebrow pencil, and black eyeliner.
First, prep your face for makeup like normal. Having a good base will help the costume makeup hold longer.
Once you're face is ready, start with the white costume makeup. You will take the white costume make up and make circles around your eyes. Essentially you're following the circle your sinuses create to form big circles around your eyes.
Next, use your eyebrow pencil to emphasize your eye shape. Follow your natural brow and extend it as far out as you want. Then use the pencil to draw lines down your nose.
Now, get out your bronzer and follow your cheek bones. You are going to use WAY more bronzer than you normally do because you're trying to make your cheeks look as brown as you can. Also put the bronzer on your temples and jaw bone.
Almost done-- aren't you looking so good already? Now, you will put the finishing touches on your eyes. You can use eyeliner or your eyebrow pencil for this part depending on how dramatic you want the look to be. I went with both. You will use these to add to the feather-y look of your face.
Draw the lines above your eye at an angle towards your ears and the ones below your eyes at an angle towards your jaw. Alternate long lines and short lines.
Lastly, use a dark lip to pull your whole face together.
Buy feathers and get ready to have some fun with them! I braided my hair and then stuck feathers in the braiding at the top and bottom of the braid. You could also take a headband and make a headpiece with them.
You can tease your hair and make it look crazy or wear it up with just the braid as a focus.
As far as what to wear, any neutral outfit will go along with this.
WHOOOOO is looking ready for Halloween now? You are!
Happy Tricking and Treating!
