Flower by Drew Barrymore

When I learned about Drew Barrymore's new makeup line through Hello Luvvy's instagram, (@hello_luvvy, btw), I was admittedly more excited than I probably should have been. I am always intrigued by celebrity beauty collections, as I like to think that their chosen products somehow shed light onto their personality.

As thrilled as I was about Drew's new line, I was equally nervous about the price tag. Most celebrity makeup is sold exclusively in department stores or at Sephora, and makeup-addicted luvvies will drop a pretty penny obtain it. I steeled myself for the expense, telling myself that I could buy at least one product: a lipstick or an eyeliner. I googled "drew barrymore makeup," and ended up at www.flowerbeauty.com.

The website is gorgeous, and I was delighted to find that her products are not only affordable, but available from Walmart stores or from walmart.com. The brand's philosophy revolves around giving the normal girl access to beautiful, rich, high-quality beauty products. Straight from the website: "You no longer have to spend a lot of money to get the quality cosmetics you want and deserve. How do we do it? We do not pay for advertising. Where other beauty brands spend a vast percentage of the cost of their products on ads, we do not. Drew, as an owner of the brand, takes pride in promoting Flower, which in turn allows us to put all of our resources into the formulas and packaging, and not into advertising."

All of Flower's beauty products are made right here in the USA and are cruelty-free. Plus the website has some awesome tutorials starring Drew herself! I immediately went to walmart.com and ordered two products from the line: a bottle of Nail'd It Nail Lacquer, in the shade "That's Just Dan-De-Lion," and the Skincognito Stick Foundation in Shade 4.

The nail polish is a gorgeous ballet-slipper pink with silver and gold sparkles throughout. The color is soft and feminine without being too pink, and two coats gives the perfect elegant nude shine.

Tip: Paint the nails on your dominant hand first. I don't know why, but it just makes it easier.

The foundation stick is just as luvvly. I don't often wear a proper base, (as most of you know I prefer a tinted moisturizer or a BB cream), but this feels light and airy. The stick makes for quick, buildable coverage; dot it on your forehead, cheeks, and chin, blend well, go. The Skincognito feels powdery once applied and definitely covers imperfections and yucky uneven skin.

The entire Flower line is relatively neutral -- the wildest shades are warm roses or soft olives -- so all of the eyeshadows and lip sticks/ glosses are super-wearable. I am a new believer in these products, and I highly recommend them. Welcome in the fairer seasons with a fresh (and affordable) new look!
