by 45 September 03, 2015Get a head start on your fall decorations with this luvvly monogram door hanger! I am in luvv with this time of year because it is the beginning of my favorite craft season. I like to get started a little early so I am not crafting everything at once and getting overwhelmed. I created this monogram door hanger so that it could last well into the winter if I wanted it to. You can always add different colors if you like more traditional fall decor, though.
— White Letter (paint it if you can't find a white one)
— Gold Spray Paint
— Gold Acrylic Paint
— Round Sponge Brush
— 3 Pine Cones
— White Burlap Ribbon
— Hot Glue & Glue Gun
— Bakers Twine (not pictured)
To get started randomly paint gold dots onto your monogram with the gold acrylic paint. Set it to the side to dry.
Spray paint all three pine cones. Make sure to spray from the top and from the bottom to cover all visible surfaces.
As the pine cones are drying, loop 2 arms' lengths worth of ribbon through the monogram. Towards the ends of the ribbon tie some twine tightly around both ends and trim the ends.
*note* If you happen to have a letter that can't be looped through, you can glue the ribbon to the back of the monogram as long as you make sure it is secure.
After the pine cones are dry, thread some twine into the ends of each pine cone as shown above.Tie all three pine cones to the ribbon giving enough slack that it hangs down naturally. To create a bow, cut 2 more arms' lengths of ribbon and fold it 5 times so it looks like this. Pinch and tie around the middle of the stack. Wrap a small 3-inch piece of ribbon around the middle of he bow and glue. Be very careful not to burn your hands! I ran a piece of twine through the middle piece of the bow. Then tied it to the door hanger and created a loop so that I could easily hang it. I secured my knots, bow, and loop with glue just to make it extra strong. Now you have a beautiful fall door hanger that can out last the season if you want. Ladies I would LUVV to see your door hangers on insta, use #DIYLuvv so I can find them! Have a great weekend! xoxo!
