by 2 October 05, 2015Happy October, luvvs! Here in Arkansas, this new month brought with it much chillier temperatures and much drier air; a perfect combo for football games, chili cook-offs, and bonfires-- but a total challenge for anyone with dry skin. Today's round-up is all about new, must-try fall skin care products that will help you maintain soft, glowing, hydrated skin all autumn long (and into the winter, too). 1. Skin oils: Don't be put off by the name-- some oils can be good for skin! And the facial oils that are gaining popularity in the US beauty market are the perfect solution for the harsh winds and weather of the upcoming season. Silky skin oils not only restore moisture, but can also help fight dullness (which is the #1 sign of aging-- even above wrinkles!) and most formulas incorporate dreamy natural ingredients, like rose flower, lavender, or orange peel. Yum. [caption id="attachment_13568" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Try this Loreal Paris Age Perfect Facial Oil here; or splurge on the Aerin Rose Oil here.[/caption] 2. Sheet Masks: Surely you all remember my first post about sheet masks-- I bought nearly 30 of them and I'm still using them on the regular. They're quick and easy, and if used right before bed, can help make soft and smooth skin last throughout your day. The sheet mask's lasting moisture is what makes it extra-helpful in the fall/winter months, as is can not only repair dry, damaged skin, but also helps fight loss of elasticity and suppleness on facial skin. [caption id="attachment_13567" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Get the Too Cool For School Egg Cream Mask here; and try out the Deep Moisture mask from Farmacy (a relatively new cosmetics line) here.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_13566" align="aligncenter" width="700"] You will love both of these sheet masks! Get the luxurious Shiseido masks here; try the Tony Moly masks here.[/caption] 3. Essences: Ahh, the essence: the mystery of the skin care world. This is another product that comes from my obsession with Korean skin care and beauty products. In short, an essence has the consistency of a toner but with a silkier texture like a serum. Essences are known for their powerful, penetrating inrgedients (such as floral extracts) and have been a part of the 11-step Korean skin care regimen for decades. Finally the US is hopping on the essence trend, making this product much easier to find-- just in time for cooler, drier weather! [caption id="attachment_13560" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Another Shideido favorite! Get their dewy essence here; or try the mega-glam Diorsnow essence, available here.[/caption] 4. Eye treatments: As you should all know by now, the skin under and around your eyes is especially sensitive. This fall, treat your eyes to a little TLC by experimenting with some of the new cool creams and eye masks. Tip: Keep your eye creams in the fridge! Yes, I'm serious. Using an eye cream (such as the Ice-Cold Eye Cream by Kenzo, seen below) right out of the fridge helps with the products anti-puffiness and anti-redness formula. Also try an eye mask before bed. Eye masks helps to hydrate that thin, delicate skin around the eye, while also reinvigorating it and reducing dark circles and/or redness. [caption id="attachment_13561" align="aligncenter" width="700"] Get the ahhh-mazing Kenzo Ice-Cold eye cream here; or try Rodial's eye masks here![/caption] 5. Cute night creams: One more time: My name is Katie, and I am addicted to Korean skin care. Especially if it's adorable, am I right? Heavy night creams (described in the context of the Korean skin care regimen as "sleeping packs") are the big finale to your long day of protecting your skin against the harmful effects of the autumn air. When deciding upon a thick, rejuvenating moisturizer for your nighttime use, why not choose a product that smells delicious and looks totally cute on your bathroom counter? Look no further, luvvs. [caption id="attachment_13569" align="aligncenter" width="700"] I am obsessed with this Banana Sleeping Pack from Tony Moly! Get your own here. Or try the Honey Blueberry Sleeping Pack from Holika/Holika-- get it here.[/caption] Now that you've read my top-five list of must-try skin products for fall, you have no excuse for dull, lifeless skin. Many of the products recommended above are affordable and available at your local Sephora or Ulta. As for the more luxurious items, I'd say your skin has made it all the way through the summer and therefore deserves a little pampering. Happy fall, y'all.
