Editor's Picks: Five Must-Haves for Fall/Winter 2016
by 2October 17, 2016
Well the temperature has finally dipped below 60 degrees, so that means we can bust out boots, flannels, and scarves, right? As I remind you each fall: it's not just your wardrobe that needs a little updating for the changing seasons. Keep reading to see the five products that will get your makeup (and skin!) through the coming months.
1. Skincare: Retinol 2% Exfoliating Scrub by Skin Script
Starting in the fall, the weather dries out and -- no surprises here -- so does your skin. Keep it looking and feeling smooth all winter long with this Retinol scrub from Skin Script. I've been using this scrub since before my wedding, and now I pretty much cannot live without it. There are tons of amazing ingredients in this scrub (jojoba beads, kojic acid, lemon, and of course, Retinol), and benefits include brighter skin, enhanced cellular turnover, chemical and physical exfoliation, and overall rejuvenation of the skin. Yass, please.

2. Cheeks: Light Source Illuminating Highlighter by Lorac
At some point in the past two or three years, my ever-encroaching laugh lines have made it all but impossible for me to wear liquid or cream highlighter. Only the finest shimmery powders will sit atop my skin (rather than sinking into the aforementioned laugh lines). If you, too, are striving for glowing skin but need it in powder form, meet your new highlighter: Light Source by Lorac.
It's the perfect allover highlighter (think: cheekbones, brow line, down the bridge of your nose, etc.) and it lasts all day when worn over bb cream or foundation. Get it here!
3. Brows: Eyebrow Stylus Pencil & Gel by Nudestix
Y'all, I am obsessed with all things #Nudestix. I love that they're an all-girl start-up makeup brand. I love that they are cruelty-free and paraben-free. I love that they celebrate natural beauty with an easy-to-use collection of creamy crayon products that are meant to enhance your features rather than cover them up. And most of all, I REALLY love this eyebrow pencil and gel combo product. Use the triangle-tip crayon end to shape and fill brows with precision; then use the gel spoolie to style them into place. Obsessed. Shop Nudestix here.
4. Eyes: Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow in "Raw Power"
Razorback fans rejoice: red eyeshadow is having its moment this fall. I particularly love this "Raw Power" shade from Kat Von D's Metal Crush collection; it's another cruelty-free product, and is also extremely long-lasting (especially when compared with other metallic eye shadows). Try a monotoned look by brushing a light layer of this (very heavily pigmented) shadow over the lids; then in the evening, use a smudge brush to blend out a ruddy smokey eye.

5. Generation G Lip Color by Glossier
Into the Gloss's new beauty line is everything right now-- so much so, I had trouble choosing which products to feature this week. Glossier's beauty and skincare line encourages fun and simple self-care, starting from their facial cleansers and going all the way through their newest Generation G lipstick shades, Zip and Leo. The Gen G lipsticks are soft, creamy mattes that are packed with natural ingredients. Glossier products are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and never tested on our animal friends. So are you a Zip sort of girl? Or a Leo?

Happy fall, luvvies. Treat yo'self this season to some fab new beauty favorites.
