by 2 January 19, 2015Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. day to all my luvvly ladies! While I know some of you are enjoying a day off today, I especially thank you working ladies for sneaking over here to Hello Luvvy to read about your next beauty mask obsession: the avocado face mask. One thing that really annoys me about my "winter skin" is that I cannot seem to keep it moisturized. I put on my thick night cream before bed, but by the time I wake up in the morning my skin is back to being dry and dull. After experiencing this for a couple of mornings, I knew it must be time to do a mask. And when I went to my kitchen to see what magical natural ingredients I might puree and smear all over my face, I came across the total beauty jackpot: the avocado. (Thanks, wedding diet.) I grabbed a couple of other skin-perfecting ingredients and began my witch's brew. The benefits: Avocado: packed with fatty acids and vitamins to moisturize skin and help fight signs of aging Olive Oil: has been used for centuries to moisturize and tone skin, leaving face rejuvenated Lemon Juice: contains gentle antibacterial brightening agent that lightens dark spots, blemishes, and scars To make your mask, mash up your ripe avocado until it has the consistency of a thick cream. Add your tablespoon of olive oil and the juice from your freshly squeezed lemon. Mix all ingredients well, then apply to face with a small brush (or with your fingers, let's get real). Leave the mask on for fifteen to twenty minutes, then rinse off with warm water and a washcloth. This mask is a great way to pamper your own winter skin. Your face should feel smoother, tighter, softer after you've rinsed off the mask. Now add some lipstick to that fabulous skin, and you're ready to take on the rest of your week.
