Cupid's Arrows - A Valentine's Treat (Dipped Chocolate Pretzels)
by 11February 05, 2014
Over here at Hello Luvvy, we are gearing up for the luvvly February. In the next few weeks, we are going to be bringing you some great tips for how to make the most out this month. I wanted to go ahead and kick off my first post of the month with a Valentine's treat you can make for yourself or others this month. I will be bringing you a decadent Valentine's cake next week, but for this week, I wanted to give you something simple and adorable to make.
Cupid's [Pretzel] ArrowsIngredients
Pretzel Rods
Pretzel Sticks
Dipping Chocolate (I used Dark)
Sprinkles and Icing
Directions
As you probably noticed, I didn't give you measurements for the ingredients listed above. Because this recipe is incredibly flexible, the ingredients are based on how many you plan on making. Plan on making these for all of your work friends? Maybe buy two packs of melting chocolate. Plan on making them for you and your significant other? Just one pack. Etc. Adjust as necessary.
Now, I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to make the arrows actually look like arrows. I tried a bunch of different techniques, but of course it was the easiest and most obvious that worked best. Melt your chocolate, dip the ends of the pretzel rods into the chocolate, dip the ends of the pretzel sticks into the chocolate and place the melted chocolate sides together. It looks best if you put them on top. Doing it this way will save you some aggravation. I thought at first "Oh, I'll put the pretzel shape together and then pour the chocolate over that." No. Just no - that was the most frustrating way. Use the melted chocolate to your benefit.
After you have the parts are placed together, you will cover what parts you want with sprinkles. Once the sprinkles are on the pretzels, refrigerate until they set. This occurs pretty quickly, 30 minutes should be enough. I made mini arrows as well by just using two pretzel sticks. Use one as the body of the arrow and break the other stick in half, adjust the half as needed for the size you want. They're so cute.
Then decorate as you wish with frosting. This is fun because you can get as creative with the shape as you want. These are perfect for Valentine's Day, but with proper modifying, I'm thinking these could work for a Hunger Games themed party? Oh yes, go Katniss and Cupid and various other bow wielders.
Happy Eats My Sweets!
