If you've never heard of "crack dip" it's time you do; it and the sliders I've made out of it will become your must-haves for tailgating this year. Crack dip is the height of indulgent tailgating food, and I love it. I had it for the first time when my momma made it, and I've been obsessed ever since.
To be fair, I was going to bring you my healthy take on some common tailgating dishes. When I told my husband my plan, he was like, "Butttttt can you make me the real one?" This reminded me, most people at a tailgate aren't looking for healthy options, but rather to get their NOM on. As your queen of nom, I knew I had to go big or go home. I've made traditional crack dip into a dish more portable by turning it into a "slider."
CRACK DIP SLIDERS
1 package of hash browns
8 oz of cream cheese
12 oz of sour cream
3 cups of shredded cheese
1 package of Ranch dressing mix
1 cup of bacon bits
Slices of real bacon
Your first step is to cook the hash browns according to the bag's directions or (of course!!!!) you can make your own. While you're cooking the hash browns, set out your cream cheese so that it can become softened. Once the hash browns are cooked, you're ready to put everything else together.
Now take your cooked hash browns, cream cheese, sour cream, 2 cups of cheese, package of dressing, and bacon bits. Mix together.
Cook this mix a 400 degrees for 25 minutes.
You will add the last cup of cheese 5 minutes before the dip is done cooking. Sometime while the dip is cooking, cook your slices of bacon.
Once the dip is made and the bacon is cooked, you are ready to make the sliders.
For this take two ritz crackers, spread dip on one side, then cover the dip with some slices of bacon.
I may or may not have eaten this as my whole dinner the night I made it. So rich and so good! Perfect to stand out a tailgate, football watch party, or really just any party you need an appetizer for.
